How do you handle no-access gardens in North London terraces?

What is the Party Wall Act and when does it apply to garden work?
The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 applies when you carry out work that affects a shared boundary or within three to six metres of a neighbour's property, depending on the type of work. In garden projects, the most common triggers are new retaining walls, foundations for pergolas or outbuildings close to the boundary, and excavation work. Where it applies, you must serve a Party Wall Notice at least two months before starting work. We can identify which elements of your design are likely to trigger the Act during the design process, so you can serve notices in good time.
